A large barrage of rockets is fired at the Tel Aviv region as a visiting delegation of US senators is about to hold a press conference.

Sirens go off in Tel Aviv, Holon and Ramat Gan, as well as in Rishon Lezion and Beit Dagan further south.

The Magen David Adom rescue service says there are no immediate reports of injuries, but they continue to carry out searches.

The Tel Aviv press conference with a bipartisan group of senators, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) — scheduled for 7 p.m. local time — is delayed as the attendees are forced to run to bomb shelters.

“Senators, reporters and guests at event are currently sheltering,” says a Schumer aide.
