Palestinian man shot and killed while trying to scale security barrier, say police

Police confirm that its forces shot and killed a Palestinian man who attempted to scale Israel’s security barrier and cross into Jerusalem earlier today.

The man was shot in the al-Ram area in northern Jerusalem, near a hole in the barrier which two Palestinian terrorists managed to slip through last week before carrying out a deadly shooting at the Ramot Junction, killing six Israelis.

The deceased man’s name is Sanad Hantouli, Arab outlets report. He lived in Silat ad-Dhahr, a Palestinian town south of Jenin.

Border Police had been operating in the area as part of an “ongoing effort to prevent the infiltration of terrorists from the West Bank into Israel” when they spotted Hantouli scaling the wall, police say: “The suspect was shot, neutralized, and later pronounced dead by medical personnel.”

Last week, police shot at two Palestinians who tried to sneak through the same breach. Both were moderately injured from the gunfire.
