UN force in Lebanon accuses Hezbollah of drone attack that damaged its HQ

The UN Interim Force in Lebanon says it has come under several Hezbollah drone attacks in recent days, including one that caused damage to its headquarters in southern Lebanon.

On Monday, three “presumed” Hezbollah drones exploded “within meters” of UNIFIL’s Naqoura headquarters, where IDF soldiers “could have been present,” the observer force says.

Yesterday, another drone exploded in the area, outside the headquarters, and minutes later, a “presumed” Hezbollah drone “detonated inside UNIFIL’s Naqoura headquarters,” it says.

UNIFIL says “no one was injured, but some buildings were damaged.”

On Sunday, another drone crashed in the Naqoura headquarters. UNIFIL says the drone was not armed, and “preliminary findings indicate it is of Iranian manufacture,” meaning it was likely launched by the Tehran-backed Hezbollah.

Last week, on May 5, an armed fiber optic-guided drone, “presumably” launched by Hezbollah, crashed through the roof of a building at a UN position near the town of al-Hanniye, the force says. According to UNIFIL, the drone did not explode, and no injuries were caused.
