US embassy issues urgent plea for citizens in northern Gaza to move south

The US embassy in Jerusalem issues an urgent plea for American citizens in the northern Gaza Strip to head south ahead of the expected ground operation by the Israel Defense Forces.
“Residents of Gaza City and northern Gaza have been urged by security authorities to move to southern Gaza now along Salah al-Din Street,” the directive reads. “US citizens who can do so safely are advised to move to southern Gaza, south of Gaza Valley towards Khan Younis now.”
“We are working on potential options for departure from Gaza for US citizens,” the announcement says.
