The war cabinet will receive an update later tonight regarding the negotiations to secure the release of the hostages, Hebrew media reports.

The update comes shortly after Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar returned from Cairo where he met with Egypt’s intelligence chief Abbas Kamel to discuss the negotiations.

While Qatar has been understood to be leading the main track of negotiations, Egypt is also engaged in its own effort.
