US special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff plans to meet Thursday in Rome with senior Israeli and Qatari officials as part of efforts to reach a ceasefire-hostage release deal in Gaza, Axios reports, citing two sources with knowledge of the upcoming meeting.
If talks advance significantly at the meeting, Witkoff will continue on to Doha to complete the deal, a US and Israeli source familiar with the details tell Axios.
