Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian who threw rocks at an army patrol in the West Bank on Thursday, leaving one soldier with minor injuries, the army said.

Palestinian media named the dead attacker as 16-year-old Khaled Bahr Ahmad Musa Bahr.

“Rocks were hurled at the soldiers, wounding one of them lightly,” the army told The Times of Israel.

The army said troops “called on the Palestinian to halt, before they fired warning shots in the air and then towards the suspect, resulting in his death.”

A spokesperson said the army had launched an investigation into the incident.

The incident occurred near the village of Beit Omar in the Hebron region, close to the Etzion Bloc of settlements.
