Member of serious crime unit arrested after clandestine internal probe

A police investigator in the Israel Police’s Lahav 433 serious crime unit has been arrested on suspicion of passing along internal information to criminals.

According to Hebrew media reports, suspicions against the investigator were aroused due to his odd actions, including seeking out details on criminals in the country’s north.

This led to a clandestine internal probe and his arrest, according to Channel 13.

On Wednesday morning the investigator was remanded in custody for five more days as he underwent questioning.

According to Channel 13 he has denied any wrongdoing, saying his interest in the unidentified criminals was tied to his police work.
