Woman critically injured in multi-car pile-up on Route 6

Driver rushed to hospital amid efforts to resuscitate her, one other lightly injured; 10 injured in separate crash on Route 443

A woman was critically injured in a multi-car accident on Route 6 Monday, with a man in another vehicle also lightly hurt.

Magen David Adom emergency service responders who attended the scene described the woman’s car as being “crushed.” She was eventually freed from the vehicle but had multiple injuries and showed no vital signs. Medics rushed her to the Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba while trying to resuscitate her.

The accident happened in the southbound lanes close to the village of Nitzanei Oz in the central district.

Meanwhile, in the south of the country, a worker was seriously injured, apparently by a tractor, in Be’er Ora. He was taken to Yoseftal Medical Center in Eilat.

Earlier, ten people were injured in a traffic accident overnight Sunday on Route 443 near to the city of Modiin.

A man, in his 20s, was moderately injured, while the other nine, including two parents and their six children, were lightly hurt, the Magen David Adom emergency service reported. The injured people were taken to Sheba Medical Center and the Shamir Medical Center for treatment.

The accident happened between the Maccabim and Mevo Modi’im junctions.

There were no initial reports on how the accident happened.

Also overnight, a woman, 21, was moderately injured when her car overturned in the Haifa district town of Kiryat Ata. She was taken to Haifa’s Rambam Medical Center for treatment.

According to the Or Yarok road safety lobby group, 241 people have been killed on the country’s roads since the beginning of the year, already surpassing the toll of 232 for all of 2022.
