An Israeli soldier was in serious condition after being stabbed by a pair of assailants near the West Bank settlement of Ariel, officials said Thursday.

The attack occurred at a bus stop outside Ariel, a large settlement south of Nablus.

Both attackers were shot and killed by responding security forces, the IDF said.

The army did not initially release that the victim was a soldier until her family was notified.

Magen David Adom paramedics said the victim was a woman in her 20s with stab wounds to her upper body.

MDA paramedic Yochanan Weiss said the victim was lying on the sidewalk when they arrived at the scene.

“She was fully conscious with stab wounds to the upper body. We provided her with immediate medical treatment to stem her bleeding,” he said.

The woman was taken to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva where her condition was listed as moderate to serious.

The identity of the victim and the attackers was not immediately released.
