Woman allegedly kills ex’s new partner, feeds corpse to animals

An indictment was filed Sunday with the Tel Aviv District Court against a 32-year-old woman who is suspected of murdering her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend, feeding the corpse to wild animals, and hiding some of the woman’s remains in her former partner’s car, allegedly in an attempt to frame him.

According to the indictment, Afaf Gillawi, a resident of Beersheba, had been in a relationship with Mohammed Abu-Alkiaan for several years before he broke up with her two months ago and began dating another woman, Rim Moslemi, Walla reported. Gillawi allegedly planned to disrupt Moslemi and Abu-Alkiaan’s relationship, but later came up with an elaborate plan to murder Moslemi.

Gillawi is accused of tricking Moslemi on August 24 into driving with her in a mutual friend’s car, then providing Moslemi with alcohol in order to intoxicate her. The two arrived at Gillawi’s apartment a short while later, where she allegedly murdered Moslemi. Police are still unsure as to how exactly the murder was carried out.

After the murder, Gillawi took the victim’s body to an undisclosed area, leaving the corpse to be eaten by wild animals. Gillawi is further suspected of using Moslemi’s cellphone to send messages to Abu-Alkiaan, in an attempt to convince him that Moslemi was set on ending the relationship.

Two days after the murder, Abu-Alkiaan reported to police that Moslemi had gone missing. Gillawi, however, had allegedly already placed three of Moslemi’s ribs in Abu-Alkiaan’s car, then called the police to report that he had admitted to committing the murder.

Police arrested Abu-Alkiaan a short while later and held him in custody for a month before concluding that he was innocent and that Gillawi had in fact murdered Moslemi.
