The Times of Israel was the fastest-growing news website in the world in November for the second consecutive month, according to a Thursday ranking.

The Jerusalem-based news site saw a 429 percent year-on-year increase in visits, reaching 56.3 million, according to data from SimilarWeb reported by Press Gazette.

In October, Press Gazette reported a 604 percent year-on-year increase in visits to ToI, reaching 64.2 million.

The Times of Israel entered the world’s top 50 English-language news sites in October’s ranking for the first time, coming in at number 42, and it remained in the top 50 in November as well, Press Gazette said, without specifying the rank.

The massive increase in traffic came amid the war between Israel and Hamas, sparked by the terror group’s horrific onslaught across southern Israel on October 7, in which some 1,200 people were killed, mainly civilians, and some 240 were kidnapped and taken hostage in Gaza.

Times of Israel founding editor David Horovitz, noting “the resonance of our work in these terrible times,” expressed “admiration and appreciation for our astonishingly dedicated, hardworking team. Israel is more than 75 days into the war against Hamas, and our team has worked flat-out through that period, while managing all the personal complexities of life amid war, to do our best to report on it as fully and fairly as we can.”

The second fastest-growing site among the top 50 in November was Newsweek with a 71% increase, followed by Al Jazeera with a 69% increase, Press Gazette said, showing a high level of interest in news from the Middle East.

The Times of Israel was launched in February 2012, with the aim of providing an independent, fast and accurate source of news, analysis and opinion about Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world.

While all the content on the site is free, those who want to help financially support the coverage can do so via The Times of Israel Community.

In addition to the English site, The Times of Israel has sister sites in Arabic, Hebrew, French and Persian.
