Israeli actress tells of unwanted advances from Harvey Weinstein

Israeli actress Noa Tishby on Monday said that she was subjected to unwanted advances from disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Tishby, who is also a successful Hollywood producer and showrunner, told Keshet’s morning television show of her encounter with Weinstein.

“He started to tell me about his wife, and that they are not really in a good relationship, and that it’s a kind of an open marriage,” Tishby said, explaining that due to her success in the industry she felt comfortable in rejecting his advances.

Tishby says she cut Weinstein off before he could finish, admonishing him, “Really?” She also said Weinstein later sent her text messages asking if she was still in a relationship.

Speaking generally about the #MeToo movement, Tishby said that “things have changed radically” and that men are beginning to understand the difference between respectful comments and derogatory ones. Tishby also said she was lucky to have never found herself in a serious situation of harassment or assault, but rather had to tolerate a stream of microaggressions and comments during her career.

Earlier this month, Weinstein pleaded not guilty to rape and criminal sex act charges in New York. The former movie chief was indicted by a grand jury on charges involving two women.

One alleged victim, who has not been identified publicly, told investigators that Weinstein cornered her in a hotel room and raped her. The other accuser, former actress Lucia Evans, has gone public with her account of Weinstein forcing her to perform oral sex at his office in 2004.

Dozens more women have accused him of sexual misconduct ranging from harassment to assault.

Weinstein has denied all allegations of nonconsensual sex and is out on $1 million bail.
