An Israeli businessman was badly injured Wednesday when an explosion occurred on a boat during a sail down the Dalyan River in southern Turkey, near the city of Marmaris, Hebrew media reported.

The explosion likely happened after a fire broke out on the vessel and reached the gas tank, with four Israelis managing to escape unharmed by jumping into the water.

A fifth Israeli passenger was injured in the leg and treated at the scene by an Israeli medic.

He was then taken by helicopter to a local hospital, the reports said.

The Foreign Ministry said it was aware of the incident and was looking into it.

Efforts were reportedly being made to fly the injured man back to Israel for further treatment.
