Arab sector to go on strike tomorrow
The Arab sector will strike tomorrow (Tuesday) in protest of delays to construction permits in Arab communities and cities as well as the government’s policy of demolishing homes built without appropriate permits.
Organized by the High Follow Up Committee of Israel’s Arabs, the strike will be accompanied by a rally at Rabin Square at 5 p.m., where participants “will call on the Jewish public to stand together with the Arab public against the destructive and inciting policies of the Netanyahu government, which is looking to start a confrontation,” according to a statement by the organizers quoted by NRG.
“The follow-up committee emphasizes that the right for proper housing is an elementary right for every citizen and the state’s institutions must respect and fulfill it,” the statement continues.
The rally will be attended by Jewish and Arab public figures as well as MKs from the Joint (Arab) List.
