IDF demolishes Hamas tunnel in north Gaza used in deadly 2024 attack on troops

The IDF says it demolished a kilometer-long Hamas tunnel in northern Gaza’s Beit Hanoun, which had been used by the terror group to stage a deadly attack on troops nearly a year ago.
The Hamas attack in December 2024 killed Cpt. Ilay Gavriel Atedgi, 22, Sgt. First Class (res.) Hillel Diener, 21, and Staff Sgt. Netanel Pessach, 21, who served in the Kfir Brigade’s Shimshon Battalion.
Troops of the Shimshon Battalion have been operating in the Beit Hanoun area — on the Israeli side of the Yellow Line — in recent weeks to demolish remaining Hamas infrastructure, including the tunnel used in the deadly attack.
The IDF says the tunnel was around a kilometer long and dozens of meters deep.
