Initial reports say no survivors in crash
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleA German-owned Airbus A320 plane that crashed in the French Alps had 148 people on board, including six crew members, a civil aviation official says.
The official says there had been “a loss of radar of Germanwings flight GWI18G,” which is thought to have been carrying 142 passengers, two pilots and four stewards.
French President Francois Hollande says that the circumstances leading to the accident were still being examined but “it is likely there were no survivors in the crash.”
Hollande says most victims are apparently German citizens. “We are mourning since this tragedy happened on our territory. I do not know if any local residents were hurt in the accident,” Hollande says.
