Obama: Relationship with Netanyahu fine, but beside the issue

Obama says his relationship with Netanyahu is “businesslike” and confirms the two leaders speak often.

However, he chides the press for focusing on their relationship and not the more important issues at hand.

“He is representing his country’s interests the way he thinks he needs to and I’m doing the same. The issue is not the relationship between leaders,” he says of reports of a frosty relationship between the two. “We believe two states is best path forward for Israeli security, for Palestinian aspirations and regional stability. Netanyahu has a different approach and so this cant be reduced to a matter of somehow lets all hold hands and sing Kumbaya.”
