Top health official: Get the vaccine, it’s ‘the best solution’ to COVID

Health Ministry Director-General Nachman Ash urges all those who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 to do so, saying it is “the best solution” to deal with the coronavirus.

“The vaccine is safe, effective and it is very important to get vaccinated to reduce morbidity,” he says during a press briefing.

Referring to the decision to reimpose the “Green Pass” denying the unvaccinated entry to some venues unless they present a negative test result, Ash says the measure is being taken now to prevent the need for more stringent restrictions later.

Ash is also asked about the possibility of recommending a third vaccine dose, saying he hopes a decision will be reached soon.

“We have been examining this matter for a while already… We are in advanced stages of processing the data to reach a conclusion, which is likely that there is a decline in the effectiveness of vaccines,” he says.
