The pro-democracy Hofshi B’Artzenu protest group says the main anti-government protest at Tel Aviv’s Democracy Square this evening will be dedicated solely to supporting a proposed hostage deal, in light of renewed negotiations.

“Advancing the deal is a moral step, the most urgent and important at this time, and we must do everything in our power to prevent this critical opportunity from being thwarted,” the group says in a statement.

In recent months, the anti-government protest has demanded immediate elections and for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be ousted from his role.

The protest will begin at 7:30 p.m., then participants are asked to go to the Begin Gate of the Kirya Defense Ministry headquarters for a rallying in support of hostage families.
