WASHINGTON — White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt begins wrapping up the Board of Peace’s inaugural meeting.

She notes that over $6.5 billion in funds have been pledged by various countries. US President Donald Trump said in his opening remarks that the number was over $7 billion and didn’t include another $10 billion pledged by the US.

Leavitt says that Board of Peace members were asked to vote on a resolution “establishing the principles of financial integrity and transparency that will guide the board’s work.”

She says the initiative passed unanimously and asks the leaders of countries that have committed funds or troops to Gaza to crowd around Trump as he signs the resolution.

Trump then thanks the leaders for their cooperation and declares, “We will help Gaza. We will straighten it out. We will make it successful. We will make it peaceful.”

“And we will do things like that in other spots,” he adds before clarifying that he’d like to work with the United Nations

He then gavels the meeting to a close after nearly two and a half hours.
