A man was killed Wednesday when his car exploded in the central Israel city of Lod, police and medics said, with Hebrew media reporting the victim was a known drug criminal.
Medics were called around 1 p.m. to the scene on the city’s Mordei HaGetaot Street, the Magen David Adom ambulance service said.
They found the man trapped in the burning car and eventually pronounced his death.
Hebrew media reported later that police had identified the victim as a known criminal, aged 36, who has been involved with drug offenses.
Police reportedly suspect the car bomb was planted as part of an ongoing dispute between criminal gangs.
