Nigerian embassy employee drowns at party

Police investigate cause of 23-year-old man’s death in a pool at ambassador’s residence

A 23-year-old man drowned Friday night in a pool belonging to the Nigerian embassy in a suburb north of Tel Aviv.

The man, an embassy employee attending a party at the ambassador’s residence, apparently fell into the pool during Friday night’s event in Kfar Shmaryahu. Paramedics who arrived on the scene attempted to resuscitate him, but pronounced him dead.

The police opened an investigation into the man’s death after it came to light that the man didn’t know how to swim.

The Nigerian ambassador to Israel, David Oladipo Obasa, is currently out of the country, Channel 10 noted.
