Three residents of the West Bank settlement of Bat Ayin and a Jerusalem resident were arrested Sunday on suspicion of receiving classified military information regarding planned arrests of right-wing activists. The alleged provider of the documents was an IDF soldier, Elad Sela, who was apprehended by authorities earlier this year.
The four suspects, all members of right-wing activist groups, were accused of conspiring to commit a crime, receiving confidential documents and obstruction of justice, the Walla news site reported.
Sela, 25, also from Bat Ayin, was arrested by the Shin Bet security service last month after he allegedly passed secret information to residents of his hometown, Army Radio reported.
The offenses attributed to Sela were deemed by the Shin Bet to pose a serious threat to national security, according to Army Radio.
Military censors placed a gag order on the publication of any further details of Sela’s interrogation or nature of his alleged actions, citing major security concerns.
