WATCH: Seinfeld ‘Soup Nazi’ won over by Israeli street food

US actor Larry Thomas, the notorious Soup Nazi from the hit series “Seinfeld,” roams the streets of Tel Aviv in a new Pepsi Max commercial, striking fear into the hearts of Israeli salesmen and women as he searches for the perfect meal and demands a suitable beverage to quench his thirst.

The YouTube ad begins with two visibly frightened individuals at a typical grilled meat joint as they carefully serve Thomas “one steak with pita, with tahini and harif (spicy flavoring), and one “kruvit (cauliflower) with salsa.”

The two sidle up to Thomas cautiously as they offer him the dishes, apparently so as not to raise his ire, and wait for his approval as he tastes the food.

“This is yummy!” Thomas, dressed in a cook’s uniform, finally yells in a characteristically stentorian voice, to the relief of all those around him.

The infamous “Soup Nazi” then proceeds to try out several other restaurants before arriving at a fast-food stand and announcing loudly to a somewhat oblivious seller, “This falafel is making me thirsty!” — a riff on another meme from “Seinfeld.”

The bewildered vendor quickly pulls out a bottle of Pepsi Max and offers it to Thomas, who despite his furious demeanor, is nevertheless understood to be pleased.

After dancing with random Israeli weirdos and beardos and eating some more, Thomas goes on to Neima’s soup stand and orders “one hilbeh soup, plenty of s‘hug,” a Yemenite spicy paste.

Surprisingly, he is denied his request by the elderly and unfazed Neima herself, who calls out to him, “No s’hug for you!”

A battle of glares ensues, until Thomas admits defeat by yelling out “Neima!” and gesturing with his hand.

Pepsi Max produced the commercial as part of its Top Street Food project, in which the company, along with a committee of experts, ranked the 50 best street food venues in Israel.
