Four people, including two children, said killed in IDF strikes in Gaza

Health officials in the Hamas-run portion of Gaza say Israeli airstrikes and gunfire killed two young children and at least two other Palestinians there today.

Medics and relatives say 10-year-old Amal Abu Khater was hit by a bullet in her back while she was eating inside her family’s tent in the enclave’s southern city of Khan Younis. The fire came from Israeli forces to the east, they added.

The IDF says it is not aware of any incident involving a 10-year-old girl.

Medics also say a 4-year-old boy and another Palestinian were killed in separate Israeli airstrikes on a house in Bureij refugee camp and a road in Khan Younis, medics said.

The IDF does not specifically respond to questions about the reported attacks in Khan Younis and Bureij.

Earlier today, another Israeli airstrike killed one person and wounded another at a tent in Deir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, medics say.

This afternoon, the IDF said a strike in Deir al-Balah killed Mohammad Abd al-Nasser Jabr Abu Asaad, a member of Hamas’s elite Nukhba Force, who invaded Israel during the October 7, 2023, attack. The strike also targeted a second terror operative, who also invaded Israel during the onslaught, though he apparently survived the strike, the army said.

Yesterday, health officials in Hamas-controlled Gaza claimed that an Israeli strike killed two people, including a four-year-old boy.
