The Israel Defense Forces estimates that between 10-20 Palestinian terrorists have been killed in the Gaza Strip amid the opening wave of airstrikes against the Islamic Jihad.
According to the military, six sites were hit by fighter jets and armed drones.
The IDF confirms striking Tayseer Jabari, commander of Islamic Jihad in northern Gaza, as well as the head of the anti-tank guided missile array, and several squads that it says were preparing attacks on Israeli targets.
Indications of such attacks came before the Monday arrest of Bassem Saadi, the West Bank leader of Islamic Jihad.
The military says it has deployed the Iron Dome air defense system near Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Beersheba.
