Writing to coalition whip Ofir Katz (Likud), Yesh Atid MK Merav Ben-Ari demands that a government-backed bill to dissolve the Knesset be put on the agenda of the Knesset House Committee in order to advance it further.

Demanding an “immediate convening” of the committee, Ben-Ari writes to Katz that “following the publication of the agenda for the Knesset House Committee meeting expected to convene tomorrow, I would like to inquire as to why the committee is not meeting to discuss the issue of dissolving the Knesset, but is instead dealing with other issues on its agenda.”

The legislation passed its first reading 110-0 last week but has yet to be advanced further, with the coalition appearing in no rush to prepare it for the subsequent readings needed for it to become law.

While the bill has not been added to the agenda of the House Committee, which Katz chairs, the parliamentary panel has announced it will convene tomorrow to choose a temporary replacement for Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana while he is abroad and on June 8 to discuss conferring parliamentary immunity on Likud MK Tally Gotliv following her recent indictment.
