TV reports ‘dramatic’ breakthrough, averting elections; Likud: ‘Fake news’

Channel 13 reports “dramatic” progress in talks between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party and Benny Gantz’s Blue and White aimed at averting early elections.

Reports over the past week have said negotiations have fallen apart, and a fourth national vote in under two years has been viewed as a virtual certainty.

But the report cites a Blue and White source saying they have reached a deal that will ensure Gantz becomes prime minister in accordance with the coalition deal, and also keep Justice Minister Avi Nissenkorn (Blue and White) in his position. Both demands have reportedly been non-starters for Likud.

Likud issues a two-word comment on the report: “Fake news.”
