Day 48 of Operation Protective Edge

Hamas has pounded Israel — mainly the south — with some 20 rockets and mortar shells on Friday and Saturday. The IDF is striking targets in Gaza, and Communications Minister Gilad Erdan said late Saturday that Israel is “closer than ever” to launching a new ground offensive against Hamas in the strip.
