Opposition Leader Yair Lapid denies reports that his political union with Naftali Bennett is splitting up amid drooping poll numbers, calling the rumors “fake news.”
“The poison machine is now spreading, ‘Lapid and Bennett are thinking about breaking up,’ because fake news from anonymous sources is their way of trying to hurt whatever is threatening them,” Lapid posts on X, in a reference to outlets aligned with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
At a press conference last night, Bennett also denied the reports, which came following a series of polls showing that the “Together” alliance between the two former prime ministers is slipping behind Yashar, the opposition party founded by former IDF chief Gadi Eisenkot. Both slates seek to unseat Netanyahu.
Lapid writes that he’s “completely for this union” with Bennett, and says it “will save Israel and win the election.”
