Hezbollah confirms the death of its de facto military chief Haytham Ali Tabatabai in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut earlier today, hours after Israel announced he had been killed.

Describing him as a “great Jihadi commander,” the Lebanese group says Tabatabai “dedicated his life to the resistance since its inception” over four decades ago, and “was among the leaders who laid the foundation” for it.
