‘Israel knew Deif’s location for days’
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleIsrael reportedly knew the whereabouts of shadowy Hamas leader Muhammad Deif three days before they struck his house, but held off until the ceasefire crumbled, local media reports Sunday.
According to Israel’s Channel 10, Jerusalem received intelligence last week that the Hamas military wing head had emerged from his bunker as the ceasefire was extended to visit his wife and children. The government had solid evidence that Deif was in the building in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City, it reports, and debated whether to launch an attack.
Israel ultimately decided to withhold a strike until the ceasefire was violated, and once it was broken last Tuesday targeted Deif.
