The target of the Israeli airstrike in Beirut’s southern suburbs a short while ago is senior Hezbollah leader Haytham Ali Tabatabai, according to Israeli officials.
Tabatabai is Hezbollah’s de facto chief of staff, and is considered to be the number two leader in the terror group, after secretary general Naim Qassem.
The IDF confirmed carrying out a strike on a “prominent” Hezbollah member in Beirut, and said it would provide details later.
