Jewish community mourns death of Texas soldier
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe Jewish community of South Padre Island, Texas, is mourning the death of IDF Sgt. Sean Carmeli who was killed on Sunday in the Gaza Strip.
Carmeli was born in Texas to Israeli expats and lived there for much of his life.
“Sean was a gentle kind boy,” says local Chabad Rabbi Asher Hecht, adding that he “was a sweet and kind example to everyone else.”
Hecht says Sean was exempt from going to the front in Gaza due to a foot wound, but insisted on joining his comrades in combat.
