Justice Ministry okays ‘cultural loyalty’ bill

The Justice Ministry approves a “cultural loyalty” bill proposed by Culture Minister Miri Regev that would deny funding to bodies deemed disloyal to the state, Walla reports.

The legislation, an amendment to the Budget Law, allows the ministry to withhold funds to any cultural organization that rejects the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state, advocates racism and violence, supports an armed struggle or acts of terrorism against the state, marks Independence Day as a day of mourning or destroys the symbols of the state.
