Kilometer-long Hamas tunnel in north Gaza demolished, IDF says

A kilometer-long Hamas tunnel in northern Gaza’s Beit Hanoun was recently demolished by combat engineers, the military says.

According to the IDF, the tunnel featured several rooms where Hamas operatives would hide out. Inside, the army says troops found several explosive devices.

The tunnel was located on the Israeli side of the Gaza ceasefire line during mop-up operations of the Gaza Division’s Northern Brigade. It was then razed by the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit.

The military believes that at least 60% of Hamas’s estimated 550-650 kilometers (350-400 miles) tunnel network across the Strip is still intact.
