Knesset committee approves plan to replace aging APC fleet
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe Ministerial Committee on National Security Affairs approves a Defense Ministry plan to replace its aging fleet of M113 armored personal carriers with the newer “Eitan” APCs by 2020.
The committee also approves a plan to develop a new self-propelled artillery piece to replace those currently in use by the IDF.
“The procurement plan was approved unanimously and it is now possible to declare that within a decade, the IDF Ground Forces will undergo a dramatic upgrading of [its] capabilities,” Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman says.
“Within a decade the Ground Forces will look completely different — deadlier, faster and more technological,” he adds.
