Lapid slams ultra-Orthodox lawmaker for calling to end cooperation with police

Opposition Leader Yair Lapid condemns Degel HaTorah chairman Moshe Gafni after the ultra-Orthodox politician urged members of his party in local government to halt all cooperation with law enforcement.
“Gafni’s announcement calling for anarchy throughout the State of Israel is further proof of why cooperation with the ultra-Orthodox parties is forbidden. Their attempts to undermine the very existence of the State of Israel are disgraceful. They should sit in the opposition,” says Lapid.
Following the arrest of several draft evaders overnight, Gafni this afternoon sent a letter to party representatives in local government throughout the country urging them to “immediately halt all cooperation with the Israel Police, including the municipal policing units, until further notice.”
