Montreal teen with alleged neo-Nazi ties arrested after FBI warning

A teenager who allegedly has links to neo-Nazi ideology is arrested by Canadian federal police following an FBI tip indicating he was planning to attack a school.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) say their US counterparts had shared intelligence about the youth several weeks ago.

He is suspected of using artificial intelligence to plan an attack on a Montreal school, and of posting threatening messages on the Telegram platform targeting various groups.

“Investigators had reasonable grounds to fear that the suspect might commit crimes related to violent extremism,” the RCMP statement says.

RCMP spokesman Erique Gasse tells AFP that the suspect is “affiliated with neo-Nazi ideology” and was targeting Muslim, Haitian and LGBTQ groups.
