NY governor bans gatherings of over 500 people, including Broadway
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleNew York Governor Andrew Cuomo bans public gatherings of more than 500 people, including shows in Manhattan’s iconic Broadway theater district.
Only schools, hospitals, nursing homes and mass transit facilities are excepted from the rule — which goes into effect for Broadway at 5:00 p.m. (local time), and 24 hours later everywhere else, Cuomo tells journalists.
The governor also says that the occupancy of every seated facility was to be reduced by 50 percent, even if the occupancy is normally 500 or less.
