Netanel Maman, a soldier who fought in the Gaza Strip and was injured Friday by a rocket fired from Gaza that struck his car after returning home, remains hospitalized. A doctor at the Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva, where Maman is hospitalized, tells Ynet that the off-duty soldier is still in critical condition after successful surgery on his skill, and they’re doing their utmost to save his life.
Maman, 21, was wounded when a Grad rocket exploded near his vehicle outside the southern town of Gan Yavne, near Ashdod. He was struck in the head by shrapnel from the projectile. Maman was on leave after having served in combat in the Gaza Strip.
His brother, Tamir, 19, also a soldier, was lightly injured and released from the hospital.
“They were just on vacation and went out to enjoy themselves,” the young men’s father said. “We’re hoping for the best. Prayer is needed.”
