‘This is what’s happening every day in the territories’: Democrats MK laments inaction against violent settlers

Democrats MK Gilad Kariv posts footage from earlier today showing an armed settler invading private Palestinian land and illegally firing into the air to try and oust left-wing protective presence activists.

The activists were on site at a village near Beit Suhour outside of Jerusalem to try and protect a Palestinian family that has come under repeated attack from settlers who established an illegal outpost on their land.

“Fifteen minutes from Jerusalem, on the outskirts of Bethlehem and Beit Sahour. A violent nationalist aims a weapon at activists from the protective presence and fires into the air — all of this on the private land of a Palestinian family that a gang of hilltop settlers has taken over.” Kariv writes.

“The army arrived and removed the activists, while members of the settler gang returned to the outpost they’ve established in a home belonging to the Palestinian family,” he continues.

“This is what happens every day in the territories,” Kariv says.

“This weapon will eventually end up being used to spill blood, and we will all be unable to truly say the verse from this week’s Torah portion from the portion of Shoftim: “Our hands did not shed this blood, nor did our eyes see it done.”
