Sarah Beckstrom, one of the two US National Guard members shot in Washington on Wednesday, has died, US President Donald Trump says.
“Sarah Beckstrom of West Virginia, one of the guardsmen that we’re talking about, highly respected, young, magnificent person … She’s just passed away. She’s no longer with us,” Trump says in his first live remarks since the shooting.
Specialist Beckstrom, 20, and Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, 24, were shot by Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national who worked with the CIA in his native country and immigrated to the US in 2021, officials said earlier Thursday.
