Abbas demands emergency Security Council meeting
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GooglePalestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas demands an emergency UN Security Council meeting after close to 100 Palestinians were killed in Gaza over the past 24 hours, most of them in the Shejaiya neighborhood of Gaza City, according to Palestinian medical sources.
“I am calling for an urgent session tonight of the UN Security Council,” he says in a televised speech from the Qatari capital, Doha.
“The situation is intolerable,” he says, calling Israel’s actions in Gaza “crimes against humanity.”
