Col. Ghassan Elian, the Golani Brigade commander injured in overnight clashes in the northern Gaza Strip, is asking doctors to let him rejoin his soldiers.
Elian was injured in his eye, but his vision is not affected. He was airlifted to Beersheba’s Soroka Hospital, where his condition was upgraded from moderate to lightly injured.
“I have many soldiers there. I need to return,” he says, according to Channel 10.
Doctors tell him he still has shrapnel in his body, and cannot leave.
Elian, 42, hails from the northern city of Shfaram.
