Law enforcement raids East Jerusalem’s Shuafat refugee camp, seizes firearms — police

Law enforcement raided Shuafat refugee camp in East Jerusalem overnight, seizing firearms including three M-16 assault rifles, police say.

The raid took place after police investigators began suspecting that a resident of the refugee camp had been smuggling firearms in the area.

The man was arrested and brought to the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court this morning, where his detention was extended for two days.

An axe, knife, ammunition and magazines were also seized in the searches, police add.
