US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin says Washington was not limiting how Israel can use the weapons it provides for fighting Hamas.
“We have not placed any conditions on the provision of this equipment. This is a professional military, led by professional leadership, and we would hope and expect that they would do the right things in the prosecution of their campaign,” Austin says, after a meeting of NATO ministers in Brussels.
Meanwhile, the US Defense Department says Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has held another phone call with his US counterpart Austin to discuss the ongoing Gaza war.
The call took place yesterday and was the fourth that the two have had since the shocking Hamas onslaught on Saturday morning.
Gallant provided an update on IDF operations in response to the Hamas invasion and Austin stressed the Biden administration’s commitment to ensuring that Israel has what it needs to defend itself and deterring other actors from trying to escalate the conflict, the US readout says.
