October 7 survivor Avida Bachar — who lost his wife Dana and 15-year-old son Carmel during Hamas’s attack on Kibbutz Be’eri — has rejected Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s offer for a reserved spot on the Likud’s party list in the upcoming election, telling Channel 12 that he “didn’t hesitate” to say no.
When terrorists forced their way into his home and shouted at his family to come out of their safe room on October 7, Bachar held the door closed but the attackers opened fire and managed to hit both him and his son. The terrorists then threw grenades into the room, two of which exploded, and fatally shot Dana. Daughter Hadar was wounded and Bachar lost one of his legs.

Speaking with Radio 103FM, Bachar says that he rejected the offer “out of hand because I am not entering politics anywhere at all, and certainly not with a Likud [party] that failed on October 7 and continues to tear us apart to this day.”
Bachar charges that Netanyahu for years treated Hamas as an “asset” and only now is trying to claim that he is protecting Israelis from the terror group.
