Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office declines to comment at this time on US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

The US announcement has sparked alarm in Hebrew media and among some Israeli lawmakers who knocked Netanyahu for appearing to shelve plans to target Beirut at Washington’s behest.

This followed earlier reports that the US had shown increasing openness to an Israeli escalation in Lebanon, though those reports relied on anonymous Israeli sources.
